Frequently Asked Questions about CBD
Is CBD Legal?
CBD that has been extracted from the hemp plant, as opposed to the cannabis plant, and contains less than 0.3% THC is legal within the United States. In December 2018, The 2018 Farm Bill was signed into law. This legalized hemp at a federal level and removed it from a federal list of controlled substances. It is now legal nationwide and considered an "agricultural commodity".
Will I fail a drug test if I use Owego Hemp CBD Products from Broome Hemp?
We work hard to ensure our customers have access to products that fit their life. Owego Hemp offers CBD products that contain 0% THC, as well as a Full Spectrum Hemp Extract that contains trace amounts of THC to boost the CBD. The only other products sold we may carry in the future and that may show up on a drug test are the Avid Hemp CBD Hemp Flowers and CBD Cartridges. This is due to the natural variance of each individual hemp flower, and the prefilled CBD Cartridges contain less than 0.3% THC; not enough to give a high, but possible to show up on a drug test.

Does CBD make you feel a "high"?
CBD is a non-psychoactive compound. The reason you experience a high with medical marijuana is because it contains the psychoactive compound THC. Owego Hemp Brand CBD products contain between 0 and <0.3% THC and will not get you high.
Does CBD interact with other medications?
In some cases high doses of CBD have been shown to inhibit the cytochrome P450 enzyme. This enzyme is used with metabolizing certain drugs. CBD can either reduce or increase the effects of these drugs. We advise you to speak with your doctor if you are on any medications that deal with the P450 enzyme, or have any other concerns. Check out this fantastic article Project CBD has on CBD and its interactions with Drugs.
How much CBD should I take?
It always best to start at a lower dose, observe how your body reacts, and increase as needed. This is especially true if you are new to using CBD. Some individuals benefit from 5-20 mg a day, while others use up to 100-150 mg a day. In much higher amounts CBD can make you feel drowsy. You should consult your doctor before adding an herb or supplement to your routine.
What is the best form of CBD to use?

This currently includes sublingual CBD Oils, CBD Topical Lotions, CBD Edibles, CBD Capsules, and more coming soon! The best form of CBD, is whatever form it takes for you. Some of our users prefer a capsule as it is quick and tasteless, while others prefer the taste and ritual of making a cup of tea when finding relief. The more chronic a situation, a higher concentration of CBD may be required and we have multiple strengths to help you achieve a satisfying experience.
Are Hemp Oil and CBD Oil the same thing?
Any product that is sold as CBD (cannabidiol) should explicitly state on the label it contains CBD (Cannabidiol), as well as the plant it is derived from. Anything that says "Hemp Oil" or "Hemp Seed Oil", while nutritious, is a food product and will not provide the full benefits of CBD. Many products also contain additional ingredients that dilute the CBD. We want our users to be informed. Make sure any products you are buying are made with organic ingredients, tested for harmful contaminants, and are properly labeled.
Do you grow and process the hemp used in your products?
The process of extracting CBD from hemp is highly delicate and requires equipment that we as a family-run, small business cannot manage at this time. We are extremely passionate about providing high quality CBD products at an affordable price. We did the thorough research so you don't have to. The hemp used in manufacturing our CBD products is grown on organic farms in Colorado. Our manufacturers work with local associations of farmers to purchase only the highest grade of regionally grown hemp strains. Our pure Cannabidiol is extracted utilizing the CO2 extraction method. This allows for cleaner, more pure products that you can rely on. The process of CO2 extraction uses pressurized carbon dioxide to extract phytochemicals from the hemp plant. It does not leave behind trace amounts of toxins, and leads to an overall truly higher quality concentrate. Our CBD is 3rd part lab tested, and you can view the most current lab results upon request.
Do you offer samples?
We typically do not have samples available because our products must remain sealed prior to sale. For questions about samples or products contact us at 607.444.1430.
Can I give my pet CBD (my dog, cat, etc.)?
Pets can benefit from CBD for many of the same conditions as humans: pain, seizures, inflammation, and anxiety, at a much lower dose than humans. Dogs have a higher concentration of Cannabinoid receptors in their brain. This means they are very sensitive to THC. Due to the low content of THC in CBD products, this is not a concern. CBD is non-toxic for pets, but in large doses can have an effect of drowsyness. We recommend you speak with a veterinarian before you start giving your pet CBD if you have any concerns.
